Your Organic Beauty Routine for Younger, Healthier Looking Skin

By Susie J.

There is much debate over whether or not organic skin care is really any better for your skin than regular skincare. Some people swear by organic skin care, while others say that it is not so good. What is the truth? How do you decide if organic skin care is right for you? Here are 5 ways that you can effortlessly implement an organic skin care routine in your life.

Do your homework. Before purchasing a toner, do your research about what ingredients are in the toner and how they might affect your skin. Understand first, what organic products really mean and how they function. Then learn to read labels such as an expert. It is one thing that is often not talked about enough, but know your skin type well this is one thing that can and should be discussed with your doctor.

Buy natural oils. Most cleansers contain harmful chemicals and harsh natural oils. Your skin does not need those harsh, drying natural oils. Instead, it would be best to use organic skin care routine that uses gentle, natural oils such as macadamia, avocado, grapeseed, or almond oil. These types of natural oils are more similar to the skin’s own oils which are part of the body’s natural defense system against unwanted dirt and bacteria.

Choose certified organic ingredients. When looking for a cleansing mask or a cleanser, look for the organic seal of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These ingredients are proven safe and effective when used properly. Just be aware that some “organic” ingredients may actually be synthetic, meaning that they were created through chemical processes.

Use toner. You have to be careful using a toner on your face. If you have sensitive skin, you should not use a toner or a cleanser that contains alcohol or chlorine. The alcohol and chlorine can cause dryness and irritation. Look for an organic skin care routine that uses natural toners and that does not contain any alcohol.

Use a moisturizer. A moisturizer should always be part of any organic skin care routine. If you have very sensitive skin, choose a non-comedogenic or non-acnegenic moisturizer. If you have oily skin, choose a moisturizer that also contains non-oil ingredients. If you have combination skin, a moisturizer for oily areas will work better than one that is meant for dry skin.

Cleanse. In addition to using a toner and a moisturizer, you also need to be sure that you are cleansing your face thoroughly. Choose an organic skin care routine that does not involve the use of soap. Natural oils from plants are perfect for cleansing as they are gentle to your skin and do not block pores.

Once you have done your research and have chosen a reliable cleansing and moisturizing routine, you can choose from many eco-friendly beauty products. Choose ingredients such as aloe vera, maracuja, coconut oil, kaolin, manuka honey and jojoba oil. These organic beauty products are available from certified organic retailers. Many health food stores also sell these types of products. If you shop around, you should be able to find a wide variety of organic beauty products in the store or online.
